Join us for this lecture where we’ll pursue the theme of the connectedness of individual happiness and the happiness of society — a theme that is evoked by the phrase the “pursuit of happiness” in American political discourse — by looking at its roots in the Scottish Enlightenment, a period of rich development in moral and political philosophy and psychology.

Dr. Michelle Schwarze is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Her research centers on passions (or emotions) and their role in moral and political life, especially as they are accounted for in 18th century moral and political theory.

Walk-ins Welcome. Food and drinks provided!
